Hull
The hull is made of fibreglass.
Interior
The boat is equipped with 265 liters (70 US gallons, 58 imperial gallons) fresh water capacity.
Rig
The Cape Dory 30 Mk II is built with a masthead rig. The sail area for the mailsail + jib is 490 sq ft. The advantage of a masthead rig is its simplicity and the fact that a given sail area - compared with a fractional rig - can be carried lower and thus with less heeling moment.
Keel
The Cape Dory 30 Mk II is built with a long keel. A long keel provide a better directional stability than a similar boat with a fin keel.
The keel is made of lead. Compared with iron, lead has the advantage of being 44% heavier, which allows a smaller keel and hence less water resistance and higher speed.
The boat can enter even shallow marinas as the draft is just about 4' 6"
Engine
The fuel tank has a capacity of 20 US gallons.
Cape Dory 30 Mk II may be equipped with an inboard Westerbeke 21A diesel engine at 23 hp. Calculated max speed is about 5.4 knots
