Manufacturer Description
TomCat 970S is a performance oriented, entry level cruising catamaran. The large length/beam ratio of her hulls, combined with light weight, an efficient rig and a high aspect ratio foil centerboard give excellent performance in all winds and on all points of sail. Jib furling and main halyards are led to the cockpit for singlehand convenience. Twin outboards in wells provide quiet, comfortable motoring. Wheel steering and instrumentation is just a step away from the interior navigation station.
Inside, the galley, head and dressing areas have 6 ft. 6 in. standing headroom, which is extended across the aft end of the salon by means of a sliding hatch, pop-top or hardtop option. Wrap around windows provide panoramic views from the salon seating or hull standing areas. Seating and berths can accommodate up to 6 in three separate cabins, with an extra salon berth available when required. The large galley has over 10 ft. of countertop space, with a 4 cu. ft. fridge, stove and oven, SS sink, and lots of storage space and cupboards.

Upgrades, Ground Tackle, and Recent Maintenance
1. Two 85 watt Sunforce solar panels with controller (They produce enough electricity for maintaining a top charge of the all batteries and will run the fridge.)

3. G-16 Guardian anchor with 10 ft. 5/16” (8mm) chain and 100 ft. 1/2” nylon rode (secondary)
4. Mantus catamaran anchor bridle system
5. March 2017 general service on both motors which included replacing water pump impellers
6. Fuel filters and fuel bulbs replaced in spring of 2019
7. Upgrade to Raritan Sea Era electric head.
8. New house and engine batteries in May, 2019 (all 27M class)
9. All instruments, display and radar are networked with Raymarine Sea Talk network
10. Magma kettle grill.
11. There are exterior covers for all glass except sliding door.
12. Spinnaker (although no snuffer).

Performance of Vessel
1. She maneuvers well even with the rudders and centerboard up (under sail and power) which is really nice in skinny water (she only draws 18” with everything “up”).
2. Usually sail with the rudders about ½ way down and don’t even bother to lower the centerboard. She gets lift from the board even in the up position (it is at the same depth as the hulls in the up position).
3. Consistently/easily sails at ½ wind speed and will perform better in sporty breezes, with everything dialed in. The top speed noted by the owner is 12 knots. Very stable - even in high winds.
4. Motors comfortably at 6 knots at about 4000 rpm (sips gas – The owner states the fuel range is around 200 nm with two 12 gallon fuel tanks).
5. The two outboards make it easy to maneuver under power (you can “skid steer” it and turn on a dime; it will essentially rotate on its own axis).
6. Two winches on each side (two oversized) make for easy trimming/raising/lowering. Easily single handed (and real easy for a couple).
7. The large cockpit and salon on the same level (under sail and at anchor).
8. Easy pathways and grab rails to move about the deck and trampoline.
